Schools in Whitefield: A Guide for Home Buyers

Schools are one of the main reasons families choose a home in Whitefield. This guide explains how the school map of the area is laid out, which boards are on offer and how to match a school to a home before buying. It names a set of established schools with their board and location, and leaves fees out, because fees change every year and should come from the school itself.
Why Schools Shape a Home Search in Whitefield
Whitefield is a large area, not a single neighbourhood. It runs from Kundalahalli and Brookefield in the west to Kadugodi and Hope Farm in the east, with ITPL and the EPIP Zone in between. A school that is "in Whitefield" on paper may be 8 km from a home that is also "in Whitefield".
Traffic makes this distance matter. The morning school run overlaps with office traffic on ITPL Main Road, Whitefield Main Road and Varthur Road. A child's bus ride of 20 minutes from one apartment may take an hour from another. The school choice and the home choice are best made together.
The Boards on Offer
Whitefield has schools for every major board, which is not true of every part of Bangalore. The four that parents usually compare are:
- CBSE: the national board, common among families who may move between cities.
- CISCE (ICSE and ISC): a national board with a strong emphasis on English and project work.
- Cambridge (IGCSE, AS and A Levels): an international route, often chosen by families who plan on university abroad.
- Karnataka State Board: followed by many older and lower-fee schools in the area.
Some schools run two boards on one campus. In that case, ask from which grade the streams separate. A child may also need to move school after Grade 10 when the campus does not run Grades 11 and 12.
Established Schools and Where They Are
The schools below are spread across different pockets, which is the reason they are listed by location. The list is a starting point for a shortlist and is not a ranking.
Around EPIP Zone and ITPL
Vydehi School of Excellence is on the Vydehi campus at 82 EPIP Area. It is a co-educational CBSE day school that runs from pre-kindergarten to Grade 12. The location suits homes near ITPL, Pattandur Agrahara and Nallurhalli.
Glentree Academy has its Whitefield campus on Nallurhalli Road. It follows the CBSE curriculum from nursery to Grade 10. Families who want the same campus through Grade 12 should plan the move after Grade 10 in advance.
Kadugodi and Hope Farm
National Public School ITPL is at Goravigere on Kadugodi Main Road. It is a CBSE school that opened in 2018 as part of the National Public School group. The campus is beyond the Whitefield railway line, so it is closest to homes in Kadugodi, Seegehalli and along the road to Hoskote.
The Deens Academy, a CBSE school with classes from kindergarten to Grade 12, has its main campus on ECC Road. That address is a short drive from the Hope Farm junction and the eastern end of the Purple Line.
Kundalahalli, Brookefield and Thubarahalli
Ryan International School at Kundalahalli follows the ICSE curriculum and takes children from Montessori to Grade 12. VIBGYOR High has a campus at Thubarahalli on the Marathahalli side of Whitefield Road. It offers both the CISCE and the Cambridge programmes from Grade 1 to Grade 12. These two suit homes in Brookefield, AECS Layout and Thubarahalli.
The Whitefield to Sarjapur Road Belt
Inventure Academy is at Chikkavaderapura on the road from Whitefield to Sarjapur. It offers the Cambridge route (IGCSE, AS and A Levels) as well as ICSE and ISC, from pre-kindergarten to Grade 12. The campus is nearer to Varthur and Gunjur than to central Whitefield. Buyers looking at projects along this belt often shortlist it for that reason.
Matching a School to a Home
The practical test is the real travel time at 7:30 in the morning, not the distance on a map. A few steps make the check reliable:
- Drive or ride the route from the project gate to the school on a weekday morning.
- Ask the school for its bus routes, pick-up times and the last stop on each route.
- Check whether the route crosses a railway gate, a metro construction stretch or a junction known for jams.
- Ask residents of the project where their children study and how long the ride takes.
A second point is the entry grade. Most seats open at nursery or kindergarten, and seats in higher grades depend on vacancies. A family moving in with a child in Grade 6 should confirm the seat before paying the booking amount on a home.
Admissions and Timing
Admissions for the next academic year usually open between September and December, and popular schools close early. Schools set a minimum age for each entry grade and ask for the child's birth certificate, earlier report cards, a transfer certificate, address proof and immunisation records. Some schools also meet the child and the parents before offering a seat.
The address proof matters to home buyers. A sale agreement or allotment letter for an under-construction flat may not be accepted as proof of residence. Parents who plan to move in mid-year should ask the school what document it will accept.
What Brochures Leave Out
Project brochures often list a dozen schools "within 15 minutes". Those times are measured without traffic and sometimes from the nearest corner of the site. A school named in a brochure has no tie-up with the project unless the developer confirms one in writing.
Buyers comparing apartments in Whitefield should treat the school run like the office commute: a daily cost paid in time. A slightly smaller home ten minutes from the school often works better than a larger one across the railway line. We are happy to share which schools are nearest to any project on our pages.
