Namma Metro Pink Line: Stations, Localities and Buyer Checks

By Bangaloreprop Editorial Team·5 October 2026·6 min read

The Namma Metro Pink Line is the north-south line that will link Bannerghatta Road with MG Road and Nagawara. This guide follows the line station by station, explains which parts are elevated and which are underground, and sets out where each part has reached in October 2026. It closes with the checks a home buyer should make before paying for metro access.

The Pink Line in Brief

The Pink Line is about 21 km long and has 18 stations, from Kalena Agrahara in the south to Nagawara in the north. It is Reach 6 of the Phase 2 network and is being built by BMRCL. The main facts are these:

  • Six elevated stations on a 7.5 km stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere
  • Twelve underground stations from Dairy Circle to Nagawara
  • Interchanges with the Yellow Line at Jayadeva Hospital and the Purple Line at MG Road
  • A planned interchange with the Blue Line at Nagawara, which is under construction
  • A depot at Kothanur and trains built by BEML

The line is opening in two stages. The elevated stretch comes first, and the underground stations follow at a later stage.

Stations From South to North

The 18 stations fall into three groups, and each group serves a different kind of neighbourhood. The table lists them in order from the southern end of the line.

Bannerghatta Road: the elevated stretch

The elevated stretch follows Bannerghatta Road from Kalena Agrahara, near Gottigere, to Tavarekere. Hulimavu and IIMB stations serve the apartment belt around Arekere and Bilekahalli. JP Nagar 4th Phase and Jayadeva Hospital stations serve JP Nagar and BTM Layout.

Jayadeva Hospital is the key station on this stretch. It connects the Pink Line with the Yellow Line, which runs from RV Road to Bommasandra through Electronic City. JP Nagar 4th Phase is also the planned starting point of the Orange Line of Phase 3.

City centre: Dairy Circle to Shivajinagar

The line goes underground after Tavarekere and runs below some of the oldest parts of the city. Dairy Circle and Lakkasandra stations are close to the hospitals and offices along Hosur Road and Bannerghatta Road. Langford Town and National Military School stations serve the Richmond Town side of the centre.

MG Road station connects the Pink Line with the Purple Line, which runs from Challaghatta to Whitefield. Shivaji Nagar station is next to the bus station and the main wholesale markets. Housing near these stations is mostly older flats, independent houses and a small number of new premium projects.

North-east: Cantonment to Nagawara

Cantonment station is planned next to the Bengaluru Cantonment railway station, which gives the line a link with long-distance and suburban trains. Pottery Town and Tannery Road stations serve the dense neighbourhoods around Frazer Town. Venkateshpura and Kadugondanahalli stations follow before the line ends at Nagawara.

Nagawara is on the Outer Ring Road, close to the Manyata Tech Park office cluster. The Blue Line, which is under construction from KR Pura to the airport, will have its own station at Nagawara. Homes around Thanisandra and Hennur Road are the nearest large supply of new apartments to this end of the line.

Where the Line Has Reached in October 2026

The elevated stretch is built and its trains have completed their trials. The Railway Board approved the BEML trains on 23 September 2026. Passenger services will begin after the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety inspects the stretch and authorises it.

The opening of this stretch has moved more than once, from the end of 2025 to August 2026 and then to October 2026. BMRCL will announce the date once the safety clearance is in hand. Until then, the six stations count as under construction in any buying plan.

Tunnelling on the underground section is complete, and the work that remains is on stations, track and systems. Officials have spoken of 2027 for this section, and the reported months differ. The full line, with the MG Road and Nagawara interchanges, becomes usable only when this section opens.

What Each Stage Changes for Residents

The first stage gives Bannerghatta Road a metro for the first time. With only the elevated stretch open, a trip to the city centre needs a change at Jayadeva Hospital to the Yellow Line and a second change at RV Road to the Green Line. A trip to Electronic City needs one change at Jayadeva Hospital.

The second stage is the larger change. A resident of Hulimavu or JP Nagar will reach MG Road, Shivajinagar or Cantonment on one train. A resident of Frazer Town or Nagawara will reach the centre and the Purple Line without using the road.

Homes near the underground stations gain later, and the roads around several of those stations still carry construction barricades. Buyers in these areas should ask when the road outside the project will be restored. Tenants and owners who work near MG Road gain the most once the full line runs.

Checks Before Paying for Metro Access

A station nearby adds value only when the daily trip works from door to door. These checks keep the metro in proportion when comparing homes along the line:

  • Walk from the project gate to the station entrance at peak hour and time it
  • Confirm whether the nearest station is on the elevated stretch or the underground section, since they open at different times
  • Work out the full trip to the office, including each change of line
  • Compare the asking price with similar homes one or two kilometres away from the line
  • Plan the budget on the home as it is today, and treat a station that has not opened as a later gain
  • Check the project's own RERA registration and approvals on the Karnataka RERA portal, separately from the metro
  • Ask about parking and feeder buses at the station if the walk is longer than ten minutes

Buyers who need a loan can test the monthly cost on our EMI calculator before choosing between a home near a station and a cheaper one further away. The comparison is clearer when both homes are priced on the same loan terms.
