Working near Porur but finding its prices a stretch? Many buyers then look a little further west along the road to Poonamallee. Kattupakkam lies on that stretch, between Porur and Poonamallee, in the West zone of Chennai. It grew as the western corridor spread outwards, and flats in Kattupakkam generally cost less than comparable homes in Porur. The job belt along Mount-Poonamallee Road stays within reach, which is the main draw.

A finished tower lets you inspect exactly what you buy, while an ongoing one usually spreads your payments over the build.

For daily travel, Mount-Poonamallee Road is the spine that links this area with Porur and the offices along the corridor. The bigger change ahead is Metro Phase 2, which is planned along that same road. Until it opens, test your peak-hour drive to work before you commit, and ask how the project gate connects to the main road.

Weigh the trade-offs with care. A lower price than Porur comes with a location further out, so your commute depends on road conditions today and on the metro timeline later. Transit works often run late, so do not pay extra for a line that is not yet running. For the ongoing tower, look up its registration on the TNRERA portal and compare the committed completion date with the sales brochure. Ask how water reaches the homes, whether piped supply, borewell or tanker, and what the monthly maintenance charge will be. For the completed project, ask for the completion certificate and walk the common areas to see how they are kept.
