If your budget stops short of Tambaram but you still want the GST Road corridor, apartments in Perungalathur and the villa layouts beside them deserve a look. The suburb lies just past Tambaram on the southern edge of Chennai, where older streets meet newer gated projects. Its local train station puts it on the suburban rail network, which is the main reason families settle here. Open land is easier to find than in the built-up suburbs nearer the city, and that keeps entry prices lower.

GST Road carries most daily travel, north towards the city and south along the corridor. The railway is the other option and is often quicker at rush hour. Before you commit, try your office commute by both road and train at the hours you would actually travel. Ask the builder how far each gate is from the station, and walk that route yourself.

A suburb that is still filling in brings a few checks. Ask whether water comes from a municipal line, borewells or tankers, and see how the approach road from GST Road copes after heavy rain. For the villa projects, confirm the handover date against the stage shown, since one is listed as complete with possession from April 2026. For Primrose, ask for the current price list and the TNRERA registration number before you pay any booking amount. Large gated projects also carry maintenance charges, so ask what they include and how often they are revised.

If Perungalathur does not quite fit, Tambaram next door is the obvious comparison, though a similar home there usually costs more.
