Properties in GST Road

Need an affordable home in Chennai with a direct route to factories and the airport? GST Road is the highway leaving the city southwards towards Trichy. Heading out, you pass the airport first, then Chromepet, then Tambaram, and later Maraimalai Nagar. Buyers weighing flats in GST Road are usually after lower prices than the OMR corridor, with jobs close at hand. Car plants anchor the far end and the airport anchors the city end, and homes have grown up in between.

The mix here is wider than most localities: apartments, villas and plots. Mahindra Lifespace has the largest presence, with Mahindra Lakewoods and Mahindra Happinest MWC under construction and Mahindra World City Aqualily finished. Mahindra World City Plots offers land in sizes from 20 x 30 up to 50 x 80. Shriram Park 63 by Shriram Properties is a completed apartment project with layouts from 2 BHK to 3.5 BHK. Starting prices run from about Rs. 22.2 Lakhs to Rs. 95 Lakhs, among the lowest of any corridor in the city.

The highway carries most traffic, and the suburban railway runs alongside it for much of the way. That rail line gives you a second option into the city when the road is jammed. The industrial units at the southern end and the airport at the northern end are the two big sources of work. Time your commute both ways at the hour you would travel.

Distance is the trade-off for price. The further south you buy, the longer the trip into central Chennai. Check the TNRERA registration for anything still under construction and compare its date with the sales promise. For plots, confirm the layout approval, road widths and who maintains common areas. Ask where water comes from and how supply holds up in summer. In a large township, find out which facilities are open now and which are still planned.
